Can someone please explain to me what angel eyes do. I know what they look like, but whenever I see them it seems like it's at night time and their actual lights are off- which seems pointless to have them in the first place if they are only visible at night with the actual headlight light off.

This is something I would want in my mini. I'd want to hook them up to the fog lights or something like that, so I could have them be my DRL, with no other lights on but the angel eyes.

Angel Eyes are more for an appeal, a certain look. MOSS MINI used to sell the Angel Eyes that replace your running lights on 1st-Gens, like I have. However, they were discontinued over a year ago. I have not looked lately to see if anyone else sells them.

The other option is to buy an aftermarket set of HID (Xenon) headlights that have an Angel Eye in them. Just search E-Bay for "mini cooper angel eyes," and you will get several hits for them. You can also look in the Marketplace section of NAM to see if any are for sale there.

 

They're still being made in Europe, just harder to find here because demand has probably dropped enough that nobody is importing them anymore.

I bought mine on eBay from a UK seller. With shipping and after the exchange rate I paid about $90 in October 2011. That's about the price I remember from MOSS. They got here reasonably fast, too.

Wow that's expensive - GBP 81.00? I bought mine from vendor "UltimateStyling" http://www.ebay.com/itm/290577167833 with a Buy-It-Now price of GBP 42.95. Even with GBP 9.95 shipping that turns out way less than Edge's price...
