Interior/Exterior Anyone add Cooled Seats?
Anyone add Cooled Seats?
I have a 2007 MCS with the perforated leather seats and I've been thinking about adding a Cooled/Ventilated Seat kit (www.seatcomfort.com). In the Houston heat the AC just can't keep up some days and the leather gets quite warm.
My friend has Cooled Seats in his vehicle and they work great. Since mine already has perforated leather, it seems like it would be an easy upgrade.
Has anyone done it?

I'm all for it! I haven't put the top down in a few weeks because it's so sweltering hot here - and it's supposed to be 107° today
I imagine you could probably run the ventilation around the airbag works, it's a custom install anyway.
I'll keep watching to see if you do it, I just spent all my play money on an armrest and underdash tray.

I'm going to do it. i love the car, but the Houston heat makes the car a constant issue with the non-breathing seats and perforated sunroof shade.
I and understand your concern for the seat mounted airbag, but there's really not concern to be worried about. The airbag is typically mounted to the side of the seat and a complete self contained assembly. The fans mount in the seat foam which wouldn't come close to the airbag.
I'm thinking of installing the fans just in the seat bottom. The fans need to have a clear path of air and the seat bottom provides that by being completely open on the bottom. If I were to install them in the seat back, I would need to install something that would allow air to get to the fans. The seat back is pretty much all close and wouldn't allow enough air to get to them (in theory).
As long as I can install them and make it look "factory" I will do it. I need to find a clean place to install the switch that would keep with a "factory" look.
More to come...........

No, you cut a complete hole in the foam to mount the fans. Since the seat bottom is open on the bottom (no leather covering the bottom side of the seat) it allows access to air.

It would be easy to have an interior shop change out the panel with a perforated piece. Then add the cooled seat kit
Watching this to see how it turns out. Would love some cooled seats! Wonder it it would work through fabric in lieu of perforation - I've got the red leather / cloth seats...
Once I get my new car I'll go talk to them about a quote. At the very least I want the perforated leatherette panels installed... maybe also have them install the adj. lumbar pieces.
I think the cooling kit works through the fabric seats once you follow the directions to cut out seat foam, etc.
Phx AZ weather is no fun.

Thanks! It looks like a button and 4 90mm pc fans? With some mesh for airflow. I'm sure their install DIY info is detailed worth it though.
