Interior/Exterior DIY Rear Seat Delete.
DIY Rear Seat Delete.
I finally took some time to fabricate my own rear seat delete. total investment is somewhere under 30 bucks. I used a 2' by 4' piece of 1/4" luan type wood, 2 3' spindles, spray adhesive, and a roll of automotive carpet. the project was simple and took maybe an hour to fabricate.

If I had to guess, I'd say around 5-7 pounds. Sorry I didn't post pictures of the underside. I made it so it snaps onto and secures to the loops that the front portion of the seat snapped into. I originally cut out for the bracket for the seat uprights but removed it. when I wrapped the carpet material, I didn't cut and wrap the section I cut to fit the bracket. It gave it a much cleaner look.
Why'd you do this?
Are you guna race the car and wanted some weight reduction? If so you should strip all of the interior.
Dont get me wrong you did an excellent job on the delete, nice and neat. Just curious on what your plans are.

He did it because there is really no practical use for the rear seat. By the looks of it he carries his dogs with him. Im doing the rear seat pretty soon I find myself with the seats down more often or not
Exactly. My only passengers are my two jacks and my 133lb malamute. I have no other use for the rear seat. I found myself with my seats down more as well. I am over 6' tall so nobody is sitting behind me. The added cargo space is great. The dogs love it!
