Has anyone installed a roll bar with harness mounting? I know the rear seats become useless, not that I sat in them anyway, but what about the fit of the bar itself? Behind the seat? Any help....

Roll Bar or Roll Cage.... With the cage, it's a tight fit to install. Very tight. No matter who's brand you go with. The "backseat" is now useless for carrying passengers. You can still carry stuff in the boot, just not big stuff anymore.

Just out of curiosity, are you going Club Racing??

These guys make an easily-removable harness bar that mounts to the factory seatbelt mounting points:

The bar I use came from autopower in San Diego. Cost is around 300 for the 4 point unit and there is a removable cross brace/ harness bar available as well. There is also a add on to make it a full cage. The bar was well made , fit really well but is a real ***** to get to fit nice with the side panels as you have to slot them to get the bar in. I had to strip the car from the dashboard back to do the job. I would advise powder coating the bar as I did. The standard black paint is nice enough but scratches or chips easily so you would have to be REALLY carefull geting it in . Email me for any other info you might need. Mention my name randy/ maxmini and you may get a break on the price.

Thanks for the info, I am actually in San Diego and just got off the phone with Autopower. It seems to be a decent bar? However, I am not sure I understand what you meant about "sloting" the rear panel. I take it you mean you cannot simply cut a hole for the bar to go thru? to me this would be a much cleaner look? That is my biggest concern, the finish of the interior components. Do you have any pics?

There is a cage that's made for the MINI where you don't have to cut the interior at all. (except for where the feet mount on the floor, and that's only carpet & padding.) I don't remember who made it. I'll try to find the name.
