Did my 5 minute install this morning of the Euro parcel shelf. The most difficult part, if it can even be called difficult is getting the rectangular cover to snap into the rectangular hole located on the upper LH side.

This raise a question: What is this access hole for? Or, is it another European dash accessory that we don't have rights to? Of course, it will make a good location for my rally light on-off switch.

Thoughts?

PS I don't normally give kudos to our sponsor, however Aaron at "Outmotoring" was most helpful in answering my questions and having OTD with his products.

That's what it IS.....the location for the factory driving light kit switch. Elementary dear Watson, as Sherlock Holmes would say ! Good show!

Chief_Charlie is correct. It's the spot for the rally light switch. Enjoy the shelf. After a while you will think "This is how my MINI should of come in the first place!"

yes it should have a cover if you do not have a switch to add in there. i have the rally lights so it's no big deal. if your dealer (or who ever you bought from) wants you to pay for it just let me know and you can have the one i have. i think i still have it around her some where. i should be able to just put in a normal letter and send it it is so small. but they should give it to you with the shelf and you more than likely paid for it already. good luck

If you don't get it from outmotoring, you should be able to get it from any MINI parts dealer for a couple of bucks.

email Brian at Classic MINI Parts Dept, bmwparts@classicautocampus.com

He'll have the cover, and you can buy it for 20% off MSRP. Having said that, I'm sure Aaron at Outmotoring will take care of you.
