wheel arches

Its the 3rd year im enjoying my mini and from the first year ive had this issue with the inside of my wheel arches. The fabric material inside has been deformed for no particular reason. Can i fix this on my own because at Mini service they told me that this would not be counted in for guarantee because its considered to be an expendable part and this really sucks!

If you live where you get snow, ice forms back there and deforms the shape of it until it melts. I have had this problem twice already. Just shape it back and place the edges inside the trim pieces.

It will by hand, you might have to loosen the plastic screws holding it to the wheel well. NO do not use a torch unless you want to go up in a blaze of glory .

A hair dryer works wonders. The wheel well liners pn 51717207578 and 51717207577 (R&L) are about $63 plus tax or shipping with a BMW club discount from Penske parts. ($47.39 from www.realbmwparts.com, best prices on the web that I've found)

Whoever thought a fuzzy liner was a good idea should be buggy whipped. Mud and dirt never come out.

I know they were used for sound dampening, but i agree with richard... such a pain to clean. The only way i have been able to is to take a power washer to them.

..same thing happened to mine, in same spot as your 2nd pic. I'm in South Texas, hot humid summers...& even some recent freezing...the conditions seem to warp it.

...I tried to just tuck it back under, but it wouldn't stay...too warped..like it shrunk.

..got it to stay put by tucking it back in..then rolling up a small piece of black duct tape (with sticky side out) and wedging it in behind there really tight

...I know that sounds cheap..but it worked..not visable...and no one knows but me

I have the same problem. My guess is use the duct tape as a "wedge" in the wheel arch slot (the place where the liner sits when the car is new) to make sure when you put the wheel liner back into the slot, it will be pressed up against the slot so it will not come back out.

Sorry, its hard to try to explain with simple english. Think about your shoe, and your foot. If you slide your foot into your shoe with no socks on, it will be easy to slide back out. But if you put on 5 socks on one foot and put back into the shoe, it will be very hard to slide back out. (Shoe = slot on wheel arch, foot = wheel liner, socks = duct tape)
(is that a TERRIBLE analogy/comparison?? sorry! I'm trying. hahaha)
