Side scuttle install

Hey so I removed my scuttles and painted them with plasti dip. When I re-installed them they seemed to just be hanging in there. Is this common? The mounting point are not broken. I wrapped the pegs with some material to fit the hole better but its really bugging me. I applied quite a bit of force to them thinking they had to snap in as they snapped out when removed.

Am I missing something here?

Thanks!

Do you still have those two black rubber grommets in the mounting bracket or did they drop out behind the A panel ?

Ill check tomorrow I didn't even think of that. Big coincidence if they both did or is that a common mishap?

If so should I just line them with a thicker material and perhaps apply some locktite?

While loc-tite is a great product, I am not sure it would work well in this case. And bolstering the area with something to fill the gap would be a temporary fix and somwhat of a risky one at that. Could lose it on the road.

They are cheap and available from any MINI Parts dept., and you can ask that they be dropped in the mail to your address. They are small and should fit into a business sized envelope.

I believe this is the part number: 51400766479
