Painting Calipers; Cool or Taboo?
If you think it's cool and you've done it, let's see the results and please share the what's and how's you needed to get there.
If you think it's taboo, please share your opinion why. I won't bust on you for your opinion (others may but I won't)...

I've seen the stock ones painted and they're all bumpy and rough and don't look very awesome. Thinking about painting mine black so they disappear more since I don't want to drop $4k on a BBK with yellow ones.
Painting calipers is ok if the person does it correctly with the proper equipment.
Remove and clean calipers completely.
Mask off pistons, etc
Primer, high temp (1200 degree)
First coat high temp paint
Second coat
Clear coat
Let everything dry completely (24 hr. min.)
Don't try painting them on the car
Proper planning prevents **** poor performance

I'm not a huge fan of painting them to be honest. As amberback mentioned, when you paint the stock calipers they turn out bumpy and rough which doesn't jibe well with my sense of style. In addition to that, I've seen way too many poor rattlecan paint jobs on ricey Hondas so that might have something to do with my conception that it's a pretty ghetto thing to do. However, if you like it and you're going to do it right, I say go for it.
Painted calipers CAN look good, behind the right wheels. I wouldnt try color matching them to the car they look best in an accent color that brings out the rest of the car. It also looks good to match the rear calipers to the ones on your front BBK if you have one.
But done wrong it can turn to rice real quick!
Just my opinion though, do what you want you can always redo them later on.

I like the idea, but if they get dirty as quick as my wheels do then any color they are painted (most likely red) will be dirty and not even noticeable in about 10 miles of driving. I like the idea if executed well and kept clean.

I needed to to the brakes on mine. I did not have the money for big fancy bracks so I replaced rotors with cross drilled and slotted and put hawk sps pads on for a third the price. i also painted the calipers yellow with caliper paint to match the car. the calipers were real ugly so anything would have been better than leaving them the way they were. with the halk pads they dont get as dirty as they did with stock pads.
