Grease leaking from around the back edges of the bonnet

Have any of you had this problem? I have a grease-like substance leaking from both sides of the back edge of the bonnet. It is staining the plastic trim piece around the front wheels. I have a 2010 Cooper S conv.

Cosmoline I think. Very difficult to remove.

Should be some threads on it.

As Gray said most likely Cosmoline. No Easy way to get it all out. It is used to protect the car on its transatlantic journey

Here is some info on it.

Yeah it's Cosmoline. I've had my fender wells replaced three times now because of it. The dealer will take care of it under warranty and actually it only takes them about 30 minutes to do it. That and if it happens on yours as much as it did on mine, they'll get annoyed and actually take some time to clean it out of there so it doesn't continue to happen.
