I did a search (probably incorrectly) and can't find it. How do I remove the dealer installed bonnet stripes? Keep in mind that they have been on there for 19 months. Any help would be appreciated.

The stripes can be removed by using a hair dryer to heat them up and then slowly peeling them off.

If they've been on for 19 months, though, I would imagine there is a possibility that the paint under the stripes could be slightly darker than the surrounding areas due to some fading. Can't say for sure. I've only had my car since August and removed my dealer stripes immediately.

Good luck!

Thanks Robyn,
I'm not too worried about the paint fading. The car is parked out of the weather at home as well as at work. It's also been well maintained. I appreciate the advice.

I agree about Robyn's car looking GREAT.

I am going to remove my dealer bonnet stripes as well and want to say thanks for the question and answer.

3M makes a spray on remover that cuts through the vinyl and attacks the glues, making removal quite simple. However, make sure you mask off the rest of the hood as the stuff is kind of messy. It won't damage your paint and will remove the adhesive as well as the stripe - sometimes the heating method leaves the adhesives behind and getting it off can be a challedge. You can normally find it at NAPA dealers - "Woodgrain and Decal Remover" or something like that.
