Lots of options. The stock MC has chrome grilles for the bonnet and upper bumper.
MCS comes with chrome trim and body color grilles for the bonnet and upper bumper.
Both can be swapped so contact some MCS owner with the same body color if you wish.
M7 is coming out with grilles for the MCS and soon for the MC so contact Peter and ask about what options might be.
MINI aero kit has black plastic grilles for the bonnet and upper front bumper. Only the bonnet grille fits easily. The bumper grille requires cutting and gluing to get it to fit right.

I did the aero grille mod on my MC which happens to be aero-less. My MC is Black and I wasn't too fond of the chrome myself. The 2 Aero grilles costed about $100 for both. When I took off the bumper cover, I used that opportunity to remove the metal grille and sprayed about 50 (ok...maybe only 5) coats of black paint. So now I've got a completely black front end.
The bonnet grille was a piece of cake. The bumper cover grille was a little bit harder. If you do a search, you can find a how-to. I did the entire mod myself in about 5 hours and I'm a 26 year old female. Of course I had about 5 of my guy friends hovering over me, breathing down my neck making sure I did it right. If i have time tomorrow, I'll take a picture and post it.
PM me if you have specific questions about this mod. I'll be glad to help any way I can.

here's the pic of my MC with the aero grille with a painted lower metal grille.
Just an FYI, the MC license plate holder will not fit once this mod is done. I now have to cut away a little of the holder to make it fit against the lower aero grille.

Bobbyn, good luck with your grill! Who knows, maybe you'll come up with something band new!! Let us know what you decide!!! You could try experimenting with non-permanent options if you're really unsure. Have fun w/ your new Cooper!!!!
Keikilee,
Hey! Thanks for rthe pictures! That's the grill I have been seeing....I like it.
Do you have a shot that is further back so I can see the whole front? ...that would be great!
Where can I buy those inserts?
Thanks

Hey Bobbyn!
Here's 2 more pics....one is farther back as requested, the other is a side angle. I've been dying to wash and polish my car and take more pics.....but been so busy with the holidays, and all!
I bought the grilles from my MINI dealership. They're called Aero Grilles (made for the Aero kit) and you can find the part numbers if you do a search on this Forum. I'm pretty sure I paid about $100 for both grilles.
Anyways, this grille is not as hard as people are making it out to be. It's actually very easy, the only problem is, no one (including myself) can come up with exact figures on how much you need to cut down, where you need to cut new holes, etc.....so it's all about you cutting slowely, measuring a lot, and fitting it the best way you can.
PM me if you have any questions.....or just post them here. I'm sure there's tons of folks out there who can also help.

Peter,
Will the middle and upper grille look like the lower grille you have pictured? Will you be making one for the MC, or just MCS? I think the lower grilles on the MC and MCS are different in the way they fit, no?
Let me know.....I'm very interested!
Thanks!

Hi keikilee....
Glad you like my design....
The image is of the MCS, and it will have the mid and upper grill matching, I will have them in January.
I will start the MC version asap and I should have it by end of January.
The unit is also available in silver!

How did you paint the lower metal grille? Did you have to remove the bumper?
Also what kind of paint did you use? TIA

2perCooper,
I did have to remove the bumper cover. I used some spray paint I got from Checkers. I must have sprayed about 5 coats of black, then some flat (no gloss) clear coat. I let it set for about 5 hours (the time it took to do my aero grille mod) before I put it back on my bumper. I did scratch some paint off...but you can't tell. I will, eventually, send it out to powder coat, but in the mean time the spray paint works good enough.
I see that you have "aero grilles" expected for your Cooper....while you are doing those, take the time to remove the metal grille and paint first, before starting the grille mods. That way it dries well before you want to put the bumper cover back on.
I think the black aero grilles look awesome if you plan on not painting your wheel arches....kind of helps to coordinate the look.
Good luck folks....your MINI's will look great no matter what mod you choose.
Peter,
I look forward to your new designs...
