Roundel on R53 Rear badge

inspired by a really great one-off piece I saw on a run over the weekend, I set out today to get a roundel for the mini, cause it deserves one.

here's what I found, BMW part # 36131181082

it is actually for E30 bottle cap wheel center, but comes very close to a perfect fit for the rear.

to be honest I dont know if this is known or if anyone else has already made something like this, didnt look really, but thought it might be useful for someone else out there.

the "MINI" center peels off using a razorblade to grab the edge, scrape the gunk of from the adhesive and then clean it with rubbing alcohol.

the MINI badge isnt perfectly round so youll have to trim off the edges a bit, use the center piece you pulled off as a guide and you should be golden.

here's what i ended up with (ignore the fact its a crap cell phone pic.)

damn! static flickr links are apparently not permanent, here's a link to the actual part: http://eagleday.stores.yahoo.net/bmwwhemandce.html its the 45mm one, although your local BMW parts center should be able to order it, or have a couple laying around.

it looks like this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ggcadc/4970178794/

That is EXACTLY what I was going for. Looks absolutely PERFECT. If you don't mind, can you give me semi-detailed instructions on how you did it? Did you do both front and back (and steering wheel)?

Thanks so much for the answer, and not lecturing me about why I should or shouldn't do it! I've put on plenty of other British themed and MINI accessories, I don't feel this small "wink wink, nod nod" does any harm. My state taxes me for a BMW and the cops say the insurance (which says BMW) doesn't match the car labelled MINI (they are clearly geniuses).

Feel free to email me directly at Lordstafford@yahoo.com for the details and tricks so I don't mess up something! Thanks so much
for THE answer! :D

lol, insurance lists it as a bmw, really odd. but if you read the initial post thats really it, get the mini one out of the center, clean behind it, trim the roundel using the mini one as a stencil(I only had to trim the left and right edges slightly) and pop it on. boom, easy.
