I like that!

If I were doing it though, I'd paint the entire wheel black and pintripe a wide red stripe just inside the outer edge leaving a black edge. IMHO it would be a cleaner look.

The best part is they are OEM, but will have that extra style to them. Again, very awesome!!!!

Awesome job.....
I'm interested in doing this to my s-lites...did you have to sand them prior to painting them?

Thanks ricky r, 05 greenie, I just wiped them with a wet paper towel and used plastidip just to get a feel of how it would turn out if I use some actual paint. The most challenging thing was getting the lip to be smooth, some friend recommended I use artist tape, I will definately let u know how it will turn out when I paint them in a few days. Take care.

Looks cool. I agree that the red stripe might be a bit thick, but I think it will look good on the car either way. Are you gonna color-match the red to your car? I also can't wait to see the installed pics.

Thanks act, I definately see what u are saying. That was the toughest part actually, I had a hard time finding anything that would make a near perfect circle. I just used the thin masking tape, and went by it's width, some guy though told me to use artist tape cos it flexes much better tan the masking tape, am just hoping that I will find a smaller width than what I have on the one wheel. And hey, if you have any recommendations on how I could get a good cirlcle, please let me know. Thanks for the input.

And about matching the paint act, am gonna try but am not sure how that will turn out, am hoping that a subtle red will do.

An idea for a ring template would be to get a piece of cardboard that is kinda stiff. The decide how thick of a red ring you want and subtract that from 1/2 the diameter of the wheel (subtract from wheel radius). Then you can tie off a string of that length between two pencils. Stab one pencil to the center of the cardboard and let the other swing around creating a big compass. Trace your circle, cut it out, check that the size is right, then secure it to the black wheels and spray away. If you are careful you can use the same template for each wheel, but be careful about transferring red paint from the edges when you place it on an unpainted wheel.

Also, if you wanted to go the color-matched route, Way Motor Works sells factory colors in spray cans. I think you can get away with a close-match easily enough. I just used some Krylon red on my interior red pieces and it looks fine.

looks good. I plastidiped my r90s black but left the lip silver. this makes me want to try getting red plastidip, if it exhists and do my wheels again to see what it would look like... thanks for the idea! make sure you post some pictures when your done!

Any parts store that sells paint should blue fineline tape. If not, check some online art or airbrush stores.
