Blackout Lights

I really want to blackout my taillights but I can't find any tint or cover on the internet, I've seen blackout lights around my area (Pennsylvania) so I think they are legal. So if anyone has any websites I can order tint from or something I would appreciate it and If you do have blackout lights post a pic so I can see how cool they look Also I have an '06 MCS.

that is kind of a rice thing to do IMO. Moreover it will restrict the people behind you from seeing that you are stopping. Spend your money on something that matters and avoid getting rear ended.

Oh yes from a legal stand point if you are rear ended with blacked out lights and the person who hit you says they did not see your lights you will not get any money to fix your broken car as its an illegal modification and will be enough to keep the insurance guy from writing you a check.

I don't really want "black" lights I just want a darker effect sort of like a smoke color. I realize that it would be stupid to have completely black rear lights.

I also live in PA and lots of people do have tinted taillights here. You can see them just fine when the lights are on - even in daylight. They're just smoked when they're off.

I'm not sure how it is done. I've see info about using tint film and i've seen some the spray kind.

perhaps but regardless when you have them and you get rear ended you give the person who has rear ended you a free pass.

Regardless on how good they look, regardless on how well you can see the lights when the brakes are employed it is illegal and grounds for an insurance company to say no you get no cash.

I think they look dumb when I see them I expect to see them on a Honda with NOS stickers and a big wing along with neon lights and a bumper sticker that says "I heart F&F"

To the original poster, look on ebay. I got some very nice tint and it is NOT rice.
I know not everyone likes the look, but that is part customizing your MINI, for YOU.

I've seen a lot of people on this site with the blackout taillights but the ones I see on ebay are really dark when off and not like the smoke color people have here. I just want something to make the light darker and not completely black.

I have used this stuff for last 4 yrs on two different cars. http://www.autowerks.com/product/Pre...4035-o181-o188

Regular tint is perfect shade for most. I tried the gunmetal and it was way too dark....

Lyle at http://www.lylesvinylstyles.com/ can hook you up with what you want, and is probably where everyone you have seen has gotten theirs from.

i know a guy that does it for $70 if you're ever in nyc. it's kind of ghetto because he does it on the street but he knows what he's doing. i got my window tints done by him & he did a great job. i'd recommend him to anyone in nyc area. pm if you plan to come to nyc.
