Remove Fog Lights!

Yellows,

I'm wondering if anyone knows how to remove the front fog light housing on a 2004 MCS? I need to remove them because my bulb is fussed into the socket and i am about to buy new fog light housing and I don't know how to take them out.

Thanks

(1) Jack up car (2) remove tire (3) unscrew front part of fender liner to gain access to fog light (4) rotate bulb counter clockwise quarter turn and remove bulb from housing. If you can't remove the bulb, there are three screws holding the housing in place. Remove the screws and gently pull the unit out. Easy peesy!!

No, you need a small metric socket and extension or nutdriver. I don't remember the size--

Before you do, check the fuse for the fog lights. Did someone replace that fuse with one of higher amp ?

Just would not want you to end up replacing the light assembly until you figure out what caused it to melt in the first place.

I was really stupid and put some 100W bulbs on it and I ran it for about 1 hour tops and then realized that it was a 100W and I took them off right away, and the plastic thing that connects to the bulb broke off. The bulb itself was stick in the socket of the housing and I tried to take a wrench and twist it off with my force, but it wouldn't even budge. Im pretty sure its fussed, but not really sure.

Crap. Well here is a suggestion.

I installed HID kit in my fogs over a year ago. They are 35W same as OEM, and really throw out the light. I never had any issues with drivers on the road as they are already aimed low.

I am still on my first ballasts/igniters but second set of bulbs. I found this seller on an eBay 4 yrs ago who purported them to have Siemens technology when upgrading the low beams in my Jag. So this is my second set with the company and so far so good. I did a how to here, including pics of where to mount the ballasts and a youtube clip of how powerful they are.

I will try to locate the eBay store for you if interested. (I really loved this upgrade.)

The other option would be to get a set of Sylvania Silver Star replacement bulbs or their new bulb which is the next step up from those. They have the same wattage as OEM, but produce more light, and are closer to white. No appreciable difference in heat transfer.

BTW: Before doing the HID upgrade, I noticed my OEM fog light lenses were opaque from road sand....like they were frosted. So I picked up a set of aftermarket fog housings for about 78 dollars shipped on Ebay too.

Yes, the lends are made of plastic. One of mine cracked and shattered. I purchased mine from Auto Parts Warehouse for $63.80 each. These are OEM replacement with bulb and free shipping. Order left and right.
