Silicone question

I'm planning on doing the Joey mods for my head and tail lights and was wodering if a hot glue gun would suffice for sealing them back up. If not. Where would I get silicone at? Noon question I know. And I'm sure I can pick it up at home depot or something. But was just curious. And tips/advice would help.

ThankS

I have not done the mod...but since headlights, or just sitting in the sun can make lots of heat, I would buy a tube of Silicone....try Home Depot, Lowes' or WallyWorld....I bet the auto place should have it too.....

One thought...if you are very new to DIY'ing stuff, maybe you should start with a few simpler mods to get your feet wet.....there have been a few threads of folks getting in over their heads with the "Joey Mod"....
That way when you do it, you can do it with confidence, or know enough not to do it with out help.

I would use silicone, since you can shape it with your finger, ensuring a tight seal. You'll burn yourself with hot glue tidying up the seams as you glue the light back together. I would agree that the Joey mod is not for tenderfeet.
