The MINI has a temp guage. Right on the center speedo. Don't tell me you lose this if you get the nav system??!!

Chris, you do.

It's a tradeoff. You will never get lost, but you won't know how hot the engine is running.

I will be installing a temp gauge among other gauges in my Nav-equipped MINI. I cant stand the thought of having nothing but idiot lights.

ditto: greatbear...where are you putting it? I have the center console organizer and I was thinking of a custom a-pillar install..........

Still in the planning stages, but I hope to be able to squeeze three gauges into the space below the toggle rack. Being that it's not the best location for quick glances, I would install the gauges which respond slowest in that area, plus come up with a circuit which will make some sort of warning when something is well beyond nominal as an additional attention getter.

I was trying to avoid a-pillar installs because of various reports of the a-pillar moldings detaching when the air bags deploy.

The gage pod itself appears to be the one for the mini by BMW. I bought mine at the dealer for about 45.00 . If you do a search on here there was a listing of everything by part number. Randy

I'm not Andy, but some info for you. That gauge holder is the Mini center console. Mini Part # 82-94-0-015-951. You can get them for $45 or so from your dealer, or around 36 bucks from Motorwerks Mini here -> http://www.worldparts.com/motorwerksbmw/autoindex.html

Those gauges look like cyberdyne gauges - relatively inexpensive. For an alternative gauge that displays 2 gauges in one unit, you might want to think about SPA gauges. They're up there in price, but the color is a dead match to the interrior, they're made for f1, so they are accurate, and each function of the gauge can be set to drive a relay. So you could set your inlet air temp gauge, once it hits a certain temp, to activate a relay to turn on your intercooler water spray. Here's a link to info & pics -> http://www.bimmerworld.com/html/spa-...out-gauges.htm
