let's talk hoods for the r56!

i may be mistaken, but why are there no aftermarket hoods for our cars?
i mean i love the hoodscoop and all, but i would love to buy a hood with a few vents on the left and right sides as well! or possibly a carbon fiber hood? anybody else wish we had the option to have a vented and/or carbonfiber hood whilst keeping our hood scoop too?

cmon vendors, make us some nice looking hoods! preferably ones that look something like this

Not a fan of the vents. I'd prefer something that is flush or built in.

Hey ra2, is that a vorsteiner hood? My brother has it on his 335 and left the carbon fiber on the vents just as you had done. Looks very nice IMO. IDE love to see one made for our minis!

yup! i was the first e92 335i w/ that vorsteiner hood. it was pretty sick. if someone made it for the mini i think it would be as sick as that GTP photoshop as OP has done.

I think so too. It's such a nice hood! I'm jealous of my
brother for having it, I think it completes
the sporty look of the car. Just wish we could a nice vorsteiber cf hood and trunk too

I don't care about vents, I want a carbon fiber hood to take some of the weight off the front.

CF hood with built in scoop would be enough for me.

Same wheels and front bumper that the one Japanese site sells (duell.jp), so I'm assuming it would be a lot of work to get that over here to the states.

NICE!!!! I'd like it without the gills on the sides, but the bulge and the vents either side are pretty cool.

You just need the cash and you can have them easily. There's been a few threads started trying to generate group buys so the vendors will bite but to no avail. It's been over three years now since the 2nd Gen was introduced and Duell seems to be the only ones with their $h!t together when it comes to aftermarket for the R56.

I found this today while just looking around. $1400 is pretty steep but, I wonder what the difference in weight is?

Pretty sure there's an R53 owner on NAM who built his own carbon hood with flush intakes near the back. Thing looks ****ing mean. If I remember correctly, he's from Australia.

That link isn't working for me, but if I remember right, visracing has the same hoods as body-kitz.com, only body-kitz is about $300-400 cheaper.

Cool still I wonder what the weight savings is. Cause a Grand is a lot of monies to spend for only a few pounds.

To be honest, people pay what, 300? 400? even 500? for JCW CF trim pieces? Those are all asthetics and really do nothing to save weight as they are replacing plastic pieces. Seeing that a CF JCW dash trim is I believe 500+$, 900$ for a CF hood isn't THAT bad... =p

Your right in the grand sceem of things but, I don't want to get one and find out I save 3lbs. That does not make sense. Plus the only CF part I have on my MINI is the hood scoop and it was free.

If they were useful vents for airflow would be great to help cool down that engine
