A little rear bumper CF bling

Actually, my kids keep scraping their school bags on the rear bumper, so to protect the paint and add a little flavor, I did this:

It's really not so noticeable but adds a subtle visual detail.

I just made it from the 3M NiDoc dry carbon fiber wrap that I used for the interior. It's made for external use too, and whole cars have been wrapped with it. There are lots of posts on NAM about this product. Try it, you'll like it!

Hi,

That looks very nicely done.

Question. What did you use to fill the holes after your wiper delete? I need something like that for my front bumper (license plate holes), but don't like the near-$100 options I've found so far.

Did you do your own?

M

The little buttons you see where the Mini emblem was are small plastic buttons from a tennis racket I bought at Walmart (used to hold the packaging on.) Just got to keep your eye out for little things like that and be a bower bird and stash them for later.
As for the wiper hole in the rear window, there's a few threads talking about plugs for that. I used a plastic 1 1/8" plug from Lowes.

Thanks Joaquin! Yeh, I'm actually waiting for things to fall apart these days, as I can't keep polishing this little turd... It's almost 5 years old!

Ah! Right, the emblem. Missed that.

So, you painted them?

Thanks for the info.

Well, just for clarification, it's called:
3M™ DI-NOC™ Architectural Finishes

comes in 600 finishes.

Did you use the CA-421 film?

Tx.......

btw.......your use of it is very cool......good fix for a problem area.

Haha...yea me too. My water pump drive is starting to make some noise, and i'm just waiting for it to $h!t the bed so I can remove it all and hook up an electric pump.
My wheel hubs are starting to growl too...wait until you see that project.

Looks good Since I don't do CF, I got the covering from BMW that is just black. Gives the back of the car a good contrast

I don't have a template, but you need 4' x 8" because it curves, and you need some wiggle room. I just made a paper template and cut.
