Looking good. I tried doing the same with my doors but have gone with a different approach now. Did you take the door trim off?

Took the pieces off, and had them wrapped in real carbon fiber not vinyl.

Yeah of course I would love to have the full molded CF but that would be massive money!! The real CF overlay like I have, in my opinion looks a million times better than the vinyl.

How hard was it to pull the pieces off? I think this is going to go on my list. Not the door parts but the columns leading up to the headliner.

The pillars are easy. Front pillars, airbag symbol comes off and remove a torx screw. Then two snaps and wham it's out. Middle and rear remove the airbag symbol to reveal a torx screw again. Middle's have one screw on the bottom also, but the rears are just two clips. Pretty straight forward, in my opinion. The Halos were a bit more work and a little nerve racking. You have to drill out a bunch of plastic rivets to pull them off. Then installing them you need to epoxy them on. If you mess up, the dealership to get new halos and mounting pieces runs........around $700 just for the halos!!! That's what took me so long, I needed to get up the nerve and just know that if I messed up I'd be spending some big money!

Really I thought the airbag symbol meant there was an airbag in there. That makes me a little bit more at ease about doing this. Now I just have to do the headliner in black suede.

How did you deal with the seat belts. Just unbolt them from the bottom?

No reason to use solid carbon fiber, really, since it's not going to result in any worthwhile weight savings or anything.

I mean, it'd be cool, but not worth the money, IMO, like you said.

Looks awesome, btw.

Thanks! Yeah the headliner is in my future also. The airbags are actually up under the edge of the headliner. So that actually makes me a little more concerned then taking off the pillar pieces. And yes, unbolted the seatbelts on the floor and slipped it through the pillar piece whamo, done. Next up I think is either custom upholstery on the seats or racing seats, and matching material in the rear. Well, and water/meth kit, turbo upgrade, BBK, etc. Ya know how it goes!

Hopefully my last question or two. Is there any danger of hurting the airbag? What about the mood lighting thats behind the airbag symbol.

Wow those are some nice looking parts.
I don't know which I like best, having the door halo's done or the pillars. I think you did it right in getting both.

Did you send the parts out to have them covered or purchase them already done? You didn't by chance have them done down here in AZ by Rogue?

Yeah, they were done by Rogue! He does awesome work!! I don't think it will do anything to the airbags, but as with any mod there is always some minor amount of risk. I'm not worried about them though. The mood lighting still works just fine. The only thing that was hard about it, was waiting about a month for them to get back with my car torn apart. Jim is a busy busy man, but he made sure they were done before AMVIV.
