Help needed on oem bonnet strip installation

Trying to install a solid black oem bonnet strips (Mini Kit# 51 14 0 407 142) on our 06 MC S. No install instructions came with the strips. My question is the alignment of the strips. Each end of each strip has a dotted folded flap. It appears that flap is folded down at the top of the bonnet to help with alignment. Laying the strip down on the bonnet appears that it will have a 1/4" gap between the chrome grill edge and the bottom of the strip??
Contacted Mini Cooper and they sent me a how to install right up which was no more than how to clean and apply the strips. Nothing about alignment.

Can anyone help me with this or direct me to a complete thread on how to with maybe some pictures

Also installing the oem driving lights. They came with the installation instructions. Any help/tips on this would really help also. MC wants $450 to install.

Thanking you for your help. I can be emailed at tewebb50@hotmail.com

I can't speak for the rest of the installation, but I will say that my dealer-installed bonnet stripes (the ones that aren't sport/viper stripes) are about 1-2 mm away from the trim they align with. Mine are aligned pretty much right up against the window washers on my Justa, I don't think the hood shape is that much different on an S. That should give you the 3 points you align with, I'd think.

I would try this existing thread.
