Quad rally lights
I've been wanting to do a quad light setup for quite a while now. I've always liked the look of it and I do enjoy driving in the tight back roads by my house which are in the forest and unlit. I'm more than capable doing the wiring and running a switch, etc. My problem is mounting. I've seen the Outmotoring brackets which would be a good option, however it seems a little expensive and I have a small powdercoater and it seems there could be an cheaper DIY option.
Are there any of you out there that did a DIY quad light setup on an R56? How did you do it and what did you spend?
Are there any better options out there than the outmotoring brackets?

I used the light bar and bracket from VIP. Simple to mount, stable and the wireing is no problem, as they give you everything plus clear instructions. You can get it with or without lights, but if you get the lights from them they come mounted on the bar and ready to go. There is picture in my gallery

I'll have to look into this as well. I'm interested in quad rally lights but one of the things holding me back is my front license plate. malteseracer, I see you're from New York, so I assume you've got the same dilemma.

The VIP light bar does not bother your plate at all as it sits well above that. I have the JCW grill which allows more air flow then the stock one. The VIP lights sit high, because on the stock grill air only enters through the lower two inches, and the top slats are blocked off.

I was gonna throw it on my dash
I thought about that. Guess it wouldn't hurt to give it a try. Although.. I already have the holes in my bumper that I'll have to fill.
I think the front end looks much cleaner without a front plate. I'm sure I'd get pulled over for not having it showing though, ha. I have seen those bumperplugs, nice to know they're worth it. I'll probably just end up leaving my front plate.
The mounting is easy, Check out my flickr account in my sig. If you get parts form home depot it's rather easy to mount them right to the upper grille. The mounting of them took maybe maybe 30 minutes. I'll try and find the pictures of the random parts that I used from home depot.
