Thanks so much for the tip. Indeed, the foam padding fitted snuggly over the aluminium Airbag computer under the new bracket. it was a bit difficult to see as I didn't remove the ebrake cover. I just lifted the Center Console enough to remove the old bracket and slided out through the eBrake handle without having to remove the leather boot. The new bracket has a much bigger opening to slide it easily over the ebrake.

Once that bracket was installed the rest was very easy and didn't take much time.
