Interior/Exterior Pivot gauges
Pivot gauges
I love the guages Alta offers, yet found another pretty cool looking guage,
check this out ...looks like the one guage displays both temp + boost

I'm planning to buy it but the release date has been pushed back to later this month (initially it was end of May).
I live in Japan so that's the best solution for my R56s without drilling anything.
I've seen the other Pivot gauges in action and the movement is pretty nice and smooth.
I have not tried their throttle control/remap but it has gotten a few good reviews over here.
Japanese specs are based on USA ones, thus I do not foresee any problems.
Besides, it's plug and play on the OBDCII port thus it should be compatible with all R56s.

pressure is in kPa (kilo Pascal), not psi
water temperature is in Celsius, not Fahrenheit

I do not know whether oil pressure data is available through the diagnostic port.
Hey Kurisu,
at some point I may have to ask you to help me w/ ordering some products off this site:
http://www.mini-delta.co.jp/
Everything is in Japanese so it's difficult for me to understand what will work for the R56, yet there are some cool products. I'll have to ask you to help me translate and see if they'll take paypal or how that works.

I don't think oil pressure/temp are available on the OBDII.
this is the English webpage specifically for MINI:

The only gauge from Pivot that works on the R55/56 is the X2M-C described above.
I should get mine tonight, once I get it installed (hopefully before the week-end) I'll post pictures here.

I send them an E-Mail 3 weeks ago... no answer !
Japonese can't speak english ?
Or don't know how to answer with a computer ?

The Pivot webstore is not shipping outside Japan, so you have to buy it through another store (so far I have not found it anywhere else though, but if I do I'll certainly let people here know.).
And no, most Japanese people don't speak English actually!
I've E-mailed an other distributor : www.pivotracing.com
They ship worldwide, but no answer too
And they don't talk about the new X2 Multigauge for R56...
I think in this part of the world they don't understand what is the word Business !!!
What can I do to buy it ? Prostitute ?

Funny, I thought I was living and doing business in "that" part of the world...
Why don't you just wait for a while until customers in Japan actually receive their x2m-c ? The thing has been released _this week_ in Japan, for God's sake.

Pivot X2M-C gauge installed
Just wanted to give a quick update as I received my X2M-C last week and finally found the time to install it last Saturday.
The installation is very straightforward, you have the wire that goes from the back of the gauge to both the OBCDII connector and the fuse box (for power. the wire is hooked up to a 7.5A fuse that replaces the #32).
The pod is a bit flimsy, even though it's screwed in the tachometer with a spacer (they provide it together with a longer screw), it's easy to accidentally push up/down, but that's not a big deal.
Once installed, it looks like this : (sorry, picture taken with my iPhone)

The illumination is almost a perfect match.
Now, onto the actual usage.
For the water temperature, it's perfect. You can see the needle gradually rise smoothly until it settles around 10.3~10.5 (which means 103ºC~105ºC). No special comment there.
As for the boost, things are not as perfect as I was imagining. The movement of the needle is smooth, yes, but you can clearly see twitches when you're idling and the gauge indicates around 50kPa of vacuum. The needle never fails to constantly go from 52kPa to 50kPa. It is a bit annoying at first, but of course you quickly forget it.
The needle never overshoots, and is very precise. But the movement lacks the smoothness of an analog device.
For around JPY23,000 on various auction sites (I purchased mine on yahoo! auctions Japan), it has a good "bang for the buck" in my book, as I am happy to finally be able to know when the car has warmed sufficiently for me to drive it the way it was designed for
And I didn't need to drill anything, just plug and play.
Others, especially those living in the US who have access to a lot more options in that department, might feel differently about the price, factoring in the shipping costs.
I've confirmed with Pivot that the gauge works on ALL R56s, not only the Japanese model.

I can only see the x3 gauge from pivot. Do you know if this will work also? Otherwise, how would someone in US get one of the X2m-C gauges? I've really interested since the install seems much easier than other gauges and not as pricey as the JCW gauges.
The X3 only works on R50/R52/R53, NOT R56.
As for getting a X2M-C in the US, I assume it will eventually start showing up in online shops in a few weeks, but so far even in Japan it's not readily available in brick-and-mortar shops.
Patience is of the essence I guess...
