http://outmotoring.com/euro_parcel_tray.html

I was worried that my long legs and this product may not be a good combination.

Anyone have experience with this?

I installed the Euro parcel shelf and you actually gain MORE leg room. You have nothing to worry about.

Xanthus, I don't think the parcel shelf takes up any more space than the standard flat panel in the US cars. It just makes use of the dead space that's hidden behind there. I had my panel off this weekend while trying to get my aux. input in and there is a lot of unused space back there.

Of course, I could be wrong.

The lower dash profile is identical with the shelf as without it. In fact, with that open self, your knees might actually have a little more room. By the way, don't be dreaming of gaining tons of space, there's very little. But very little extra storage space on a Cooper might be worth a lot. I love my parcel shelf.

Xanthus,

I have it in mine and it seemed to give more room under the dash. Also, the extra storage space is great. The rubber insert holds things fairly secure. If you get up in the Orlando area before you order, give me a shout and I'll bring mine by so you can take a look.

I have long legs as well and found that my parcel shelf increased the amount of room I had in the entire area under the steering wheel. HIGHLY recommended.

This is a pic of my shelf prior to when I installed the Aux port and power outlet there. This thread details that procedure and has lots of pics and inputs from others.

I placed an order with Classic in Ohio. They are a MCO sponsor.

There is a great photo installation guide on MCO (search for Euro Shelf Installation).

The shelf took about 20 minutes to install (the hardest part was lining up the screws). It is fabulous. More storage, more legroom...I keep my remotes (work and home) and EZPass down there.

btw, the one thing it is not good for is cds in their plastic cases. Those tend to slide off the shelf when you accellerate.

My MA told me that the Euro Shelf was not legal in the U.S. and that their service department was instructed to remove them whenever they found them. Has anyone else been told something similar?

I don't think my dealership knows much at all about the euro shelf.
I think I read somewhere that the cubby knee bolster is not legal in the US although it is found on the drivers side in europe. I've had the euro shelf for a long time and the dealer has not said anything.

In my opinion I don't think the euro shelf would have any conflict with drivers that are tall. The space for the knees is OK.

Ask them where you should send your legal complaint then for willful destruction of property They'll think twice about removing anything then.
