Hello all,
After doing a search on Gauge Pods, Looking at the Pods from Promini and Alta.
Alta, all I can find is Greddy gauges, Anyone know of others? seems that there isn't a great variety.
Promini, the search I did, came up with that the pod comes with Autometer gauges, if so, does anyone know if they're the Lunar or the Ultralights?

Reason I'm asking is that I'm thinking of a gauge pod plus adding two in the center console. wanted to have the gauges match.
Was thinking of a Voltmeter and a Air/Fuel gauge ( as a novelty ) for the center.

Thanks for any info you have!

Glenn

they are autometers...i believe they are the ultralites, I know for sure they aren't the lunars - I'll double check tommorow to make sure - the boost gauge as well is the electrical version - not the mechanical.

The AutoMeter gauges are the UltaLight series, and quite a variety is offered. I have the boost and oil pressure gauges installed in my 2003 MCS, and have just obtained the oil temperature, air/fuel ratio and EGT/pyrometer gauges. Pods that work very well are those by VDO --- check their website. I currently have the bracket that holds the boost and oil pressure gauges on either side of the tachometer, but will have fabricated a setup that will hold two gauges on either side of the tach. The fith gauge will probably go on the dash near the A-pillar or in the space near the 12v outlet (aka cig lighter&quot. When all the details regarding a shift light are cleared up, I plan on getting the Quick Light version by AutoMeter. Unfortunately, no one makes a pod array that goes on the A-pillar, as has been done for many other cars.

BTW, does anyone have the wiring diagrams for the ignition and vehicle computer?

That's because there isn't much interior A-pillar left when the head protection air bag goes off!

I am also looking at the Omori Gauges, but they are not in distribution yet. One heads up Omori North America is no longer in business. I know this sounds funny, but if you go to the Omori site in Japan, you will get directed to Omori USA, the branch office of the Omori factory, and they will send you to one of their two distributors in the US. I don't know who or what Omori North America was, but from an email I saw posted earlier, it appears that Omori NA had a failing out with Omori Japan. Hope this helps, but Omori's 52mm Gauges for the Cooper look like a perfect fit on the Alta Gauge Pod.

Cheers

RECOOP - Where did you find a pickup for your oil pressure gauge on your Mini? Is it mechanical or electrical? I ordered an Autometer electrical pressure gauge assuming I would be able to tap into the idiot light to get pressure readings. Is this how you did it?

Thanks

SPA, a UK based company make dual readout digital gauges in many different configurations. Here is a link http://www.spatechnique.com/store.as...stID=783049322
These are racing gauges, so, as you can see, they're not cheap. But you get two functions in one gauge, so if you look at it that way, they're not as expensive.
I'm currently developing a gauge pod that will seamlessly integrate with the interrior of the mini in a way that no current product does. These gauges are what I am building around. They will have a custom silver face to match with stock gauges. The red color is a correct match as far as illumination.
Another feature of these gauges useful to you guys who race is that you can program the gauge to activate an accessory. As an example, you can have your intake air temp gauge set up to activate a water mist intercooler system when the intake temp gets too high.
Hope this helps.
Will post with pricing info and pics on complete gauge package/pod, custom gauges, etc when finished. Probably about a month off.

My installer ordered the gauge (electrical) and it came with a sensor that I believe was attached to the oil filter assembly. I'll have to check on that. Sorry, I can't give you more details. I was told the electric oil temperature gauge sensor will be attached to the same site. I think the Pro Mini kit has instructions about connections regarding the oil pressure and boost gauges.

The boost gage for the Pro mini setup is both electrical and mechanical. I had to connect a pressure tube to the a pressure fitting under the intercooler , rather easy actually. This then is connected to a sending unit which you mount on the plastic cowl by the passenger side. That converts it to a electrical signal. The oil pressure gets its signal from a wire connected to a fitting which you install at the bottom of the oil filter cap.You need to drill and tap a hole or get one already done from Pro Mini. The gages are autometer ultralite series. Hope this helpsPage Title maxmini home page

Maxmini ... On the Promini gauge cluster you have installed in your MCS. What is the range on measurement on the boost/vacuum gauge? Also, when you went through the Firewall between the engine compartment and the passenger cabin, did you have to drill a hole or did you re-use an existing one. Finally, the oil pressure sender needed a hole with a tap made on the oil filter assembly (or use a modified assembly from Promin). Where did you find the part listing for the mod filter assembly in the Promini site?

One last thing … If you knew what you know now about the installation, looks and reliability of the Promini gauge cluster would do it all over again.

Cheers

This is the gage I have it goes from -30 to +15 http://www.autometer.com/hp/
I used a existing hole in the dash to run the wires.
Cal chris at promini and he will hook you up with the modified canister.Page Title maxmini home site

Very well done!! Will +15lb gauge register top end of boost w/ a 15% redux pulley?

Auto-Tech Interiors [ATI] just introduced a new gauge pod for the MINI. Their WWW site isn't up, yet. Check this out for photos.

Click on ePod line at left

There are many companies that make gauges in 2 1/16 size... Auto Meter, VDO, Stewart Warner, etc. Check http://jegs.com Auto Meter and http://summitracing.com for VDO.

Very few companies offer 60 mm gauges, and they all seem to be from Japan. I don't want to get out my calculator to convert bar to psi every time I want to read the boost gauge, so I'll stick with the 2 1/16th [52 mm] gauges for now.

The Greddy gauges actually seem to match the MINI tach somewhat. Does anyone have any better pics of the Greddy gauges?

I am interested in a pod for boost and oil pressure--probably the apeusa pod. It would be better if someone made a four-gauge pod, since I'd really like oil temp and maybe air/fuel ratio.

No, You need a 30 PSI gauge.. with 15% you will hit about 16-16.5 PSI of boost.

Thanks
