Interior/Exterior Chrome Line Interior Tach
Chrome Line Interior Tach
I'm planning on buying my girlfriend a chrome line interior retrofit for her 09 MC for her birthday, it was one of the options that she was really hoping on getting but couldn't based on the Canadian model trim restrictions. She got a Mini Cooper Classic, which is a stripped down Mini model and it was not possible to get the chrome line kit from the factory.
Now with the retrofit kit, I'm aware that the tach does not get a chrome piece. Does anyone know of any options I have to make her tach chrome, short of buying a new tach all together?
Thanks,
Dave

Sorry Dave. A quick look at RealOEM shows that you need a new tach altogether. Why Canadians get a special one is a mystery to me. Perhaps someone can shed some light on this. Maybe you can find one at a local wreaker or something. Here's the part # for the new tach.

Thanks for the response svtzx2... I'm not sure which part you are asking about regarding Canadian's getting a special model, but I'm assuming you mean the tach. My best guess is that it has something to do with the metric vs imperial units on the display.
So are there no aftermarket solutions to the missing tach chrome piece? Does anyone have any experience with this?

I looked all over and found out there is nothing aftermarket for the 07+. Only buying a $300+ whole new tach. So, I decided to take mine off and paint the trim red which matches a couple other red accents in my interior. I think it looks real sporty. You could paint it any color. It's a pain in the *** to do, but I taped it off, painted about 10 very light coats, and topped it off with satin clear spray paint. I've read where other people have painted the trim ring pieces but instead of taping them off they actually remove the ring by grinding off the tabs that hold it on in the back and then just gluing the ring back on. I would probably go that route if I did it over. You could paint it her favorite color!
