Interior/Exterior White/blue LEDs in speedo/tach
Why would you even do this mod for $15, whats the point? And what does $15 say about the quality of work? This is supposed to be a mod not to many people have, so please do not come on here and ***** the mod down to nothing. THANK YOU!
+ 1, I dont think people should even discuss pricing on here, that should be done in private, that is just my opinion
Wow.
I'm offering the opportunity for people to have this done; and not on a mass scale.
15.00 could have been considered a donation. I've seen others offer this for free and for a price. Point is, pay what you want, or none at all. I _was_ offering my time, and skill. Obviously, its not wanted.
Quality? Hows 100.00 sound? Whats that say for quality?
Well, you know what i say to all this? Go to the dang BMW dealer. Get it done there.
Good Luck.
p.s. Pm. me if you want this done. i will hold no farther discussion here.

Just ordered my LED's! I order 9 White and 24 Blue, (I like to have extra's just in case a couple break) going to do the whole tach in blue and leave the redline, then going to do the numbers on the Speedo in white and everything else in blue! I am stoked! How do I paint the needle? Scrap the paint off? What kind of paint do I use to paint it? Should get them this week and have it done by the weekend! I have done this before on my bike and it turned out GREAT so I am pretty comfortable doing this!

What a great Mod for 20 bucks!

I'm finished finally! It was actually really easy, came out exactly how I wanted them too, I messed up my needles and need to move them up a little because now I am like 4 MPH off. Also, can I use sharpie to paint them blue if I take the old orange off?
Tach:

Speedo:

I also did my clock, only thing is, I wish the screens in the tach/speedo/clock were brighter during the day, they seem kind of dull but visible.

That's pretty harsh...
WyeFye seems like a helpfull fellow. Seems a bit harsh to rag on him for offering to share his time and skills.
Really, if you know what you're doing, this isn't hard. If you don't know what you're doing, then it's a very intimidating job.
But now the toothpaste is out of the tube, so to speak.
Matt
It's not like this is a secret job to do, people have been doing this for years. I did my bike two years ago. It doesn't matter how much it cost and if people have it or not. Just do what you want to do and let people do there's. If he wants to do it for 15 bucks then let him, it's a simple job if you know what you're doing and obviously he does. I would do it for that cheap as well because it's easy to do. Doesn't mean the quality of the work is bad, just means I can do it and don't really care about a lot of money just want to help with a little tip!

:D +1
Also, GumbyLara, what did you use for a diffuser behind the LCD? i used paper...
BTW, Looks Great!
painting is ez. just use some very fine sand paper, or a razer knife slid in the non cutting direction. My Recommendation is to use paint on whiteout. make sure to take the needle apart completely, meaning the black piece. it all snaps together. if you dont completely disassemble, youll have about a half a centimeter of orange still on it.

alot.
by that, i mean about 50-60 plcc and for steering 8 0603's
then you have inner door handles, 2 ea, at 3mm
and two more in the top conveinence lights, at 3mm
oznium will have the plcc's, but not the 0603's. get em all off ebay or something.

What diffuser? Is this that little orangish piece that is part of the LCD? Same piece in the clock? Is paper the best to use? And what do you mean paint on white-out? I am going to do this tomorrow! Also, I want to do my climate control, what gels do I need? Can someone explain it! Thanks for the info everyone!

yep, that little orangish piece behind the lcd's on the gauges is a diffuser. Thin paper seems to be the best to use imo.
whiteout, as in paper correction fluid in the nail polish-esqe bottle.
climate controls: Gels?
-Ryan
Yeah, I am going to fix it in a min. A thin white sheet of paper should work then! Once I scratch off the needles, I will sharpie blue the one for speed since I have white numbers and going to use the white-out on the gas/temp/ and the tach since they are blue. The climate control has soldered gels behind the buttons and then the LEDs. You have to desolder the gels and then put new LEDs in for the color of your choice. I am def. Going to be doing them because now it doesn't look right to me!
