Very nice find and great work fixing 'er up.

BTW, I think 95% of MINIs are one-of-a-kind due to the small details but that's one HUGE detail that makes yours one-of-a kind.

not for the faint of heart.. but i was determined to get this done.

the work was done by a custom hot rod restorer in Van Nuys

Did you mean to say $1,200 or $12,000? Did the paint come with naked women?

Those doors are SEXY though!

there is no retail quote for custom work... there was close to 130 hours of engineering to make the door work correctly.

the guy that did the work is meticulous..

You clearly have not had a car painted before. A standard good paintjob will start around $3,000 these days. The paint on my Roadrunner was nearly $20,000.

actually.. a barely acceptable paint job starts at $3,000..

i still think of things based on the cost in the late 60's.. but I just add a zero at the end....

WOW! That's insane. I got my old celica painted for WAY cheaper than that but I did most of the sanding myself. I guess I've been out of the game for a while. Still, I have trouble believing a paint job would cost as much as half a new car.

ever consider why a show car looks so spectacular... and the car you are driving does not look quite as good??

a lot of the cost was taking the car apart, fixing all the little dings and scrapes that have been accumulated over 4 years of driving the car. Sanding and prepping all of the plastic parts so that the whole car matched...

it takes quite a bit of time to make it look factory new, and the finish is the same as you would see on a high end custom hot rod...

while in Las Vegas for AMVIV, come take a look..

Awesome, sweet, etc... Must be something about living in California that inspires car creativity. So much of our energy here in Wisconsin is expended on dealing with the @#$&ing weather. Big props on the green & white striping combo! Yes, more pictures please.

Worth every penny if you ask me. As I said before very nice!! You should be extremely proud of that "restoration". It really is one of a kind.

So you walk up to the car and hit the unlock and the driver door pops open.. Hit the button again to unlock the pass door and hatch? What if you just want to toss something in the hatch area? Do you have to pop both doors?

I had the solenoids on my truck but I had a aftermarket alarm. I would like to hear how it works using the Mini keyfob. I don't really want to get a different alarm for the car.

the solenoids for the door operate off the cars locking system. so i use the same key as before, but instead of unlocking the doors, it opens them!!!

Those doors are too cool. The paint job is beautiful, but the doors!! Looking forward to more pics, & if you're at MOTD, I promise not to drool on the car.

I know everyone on here is really feeling it, but when I saw it I just thought it was the worst thing I have seen. Sorry dude, and I appreciate the hard work (love the quality of the paint job) thats gone into it, but yuk!

If I was paying 12k for a respray, I wouldnt want a factory colour and 10k for those doors :-S I cannot see the logic, just looks wrong on the mini... especially with the green. Those fogs look like bogeys in someones nose as well.

Sorry but not my cuppa.
