Has anyone found taillights without the orange center anywhere in the US? I found them on http://www.coopertuning.de/shop_e/index.php under lighting but I don't want to pay shipping from Germany.

Private messages welcome.

Thanks!

If you do get a PM with a source be sure to share the supplier with us, I'd be interested in that mod.

Changing that orange color is pretty much the only thing I would swap out as far as the look of the lights go.... very interested.

jebernauer,
are u talking about those lights on my car?

i did get them from CTD a while ago & i believe they are OEM part oversea.

i don't think the shipping is that much & the $ for the parts was ok too.

Check out the Marketplace. There was someone selling a set a couple of weeks ago. Maybe they are still available HERE.

Hey all,

I'm a US distributor for those lights - and marketing them on my car too! I'll have pics up as soon as we re-do our website starting early this coming week. Please use PM if you are interested in obtaining a set, it is about 10 day delivery drop shipped to your door.

Thanks!

Alright, this is the first time i've seen these tail lights, and i'm giddy with glee.. well not really, but anyway... for those that have done the swap, anyone willing to share install pointers? or is it pretty easy once you actually go in there to do it?

I think it will look good on my PS/PS cooper with white side turn indicators and white third brake light.

wagsFTB,

These are direct bolt in units, and are made from BMW. The only difference, obviously, is the clear turn signal unit replacing the amber. There is one bolt to be removed, from the interior side panels one either side of the boot, and pushing out the factory tail lights. Installation is the reverse.

I THINK I sent you a PM, but I'm not sure if it went through. Please let me know if you received it! Thanks!

there are also 2 clips that hold it in, you may need to depress those clips to pull it out.

okay, time for another question before i pull the lights out and realize it..

I'm thinking the bulbs are all white in the back, and are only orange due to the orange reflecter, so those who do this tail light mod will need to pick up some orange bulbs?

So, if this is true, anyone know the specs of the bulbs and where i can pick up a pair of orange ones. white is illegal i think for DOT compliance

i guess i could do some research myself and check it out, but thought i'd throw it out there.

looks like the switch won't be too hard, but will probably wait til i pick up the rear-fog kit and do the mod that greatbear did

peace

dammit, just lost my post...

so okay, this came to me that might post a slight delay in putting in the new tail lights... the rear bulbs are all white, i'm assuming. and white turn signal lights are most likely a no no for DOT compliance. so what are the MINI bulb's specs, and where is a good place to pick up a pair of orange bulbs? I guess i could do some research, but thought i'd throw it out there for any to help me out with.

i think i'll wait til i decide if i'm picking up the rear fog light kit to get a full set of toggles to get it all done at once, and do what greatbear suggested to keep both extra brake lights and use of fog switch. that is, if it's something my lame *** can tackle. well thanks for the install info all...

i've definitely starting to go mod-crazy

wagsFTB, I believe even though the lens is white, the light flashes amber, like the S side turn signal lights. Unless FastLaneTuning is just selling the lens and not the whole assembly.

nomonstersinme or FastLaneTuning, do the lights flash amber?

yeah, i think when you buy them, you're just getting the assmebly, you have to get whatever lights you want separate.

Tuning, your email is does not allow me to send you messages due to an overzealous spam blocker.

You got PM.

They are going for $245 here in the states with shipping included. You might be able to get them cheaper from CTD in Germany.

Most of the big name suppliers here haven't picked up on the calling for those lights so write to your favorite and tell them you want to see the lights. Then the price will come down when supply goes up.
