I am about 10 days away from finalizing my order for a dark gray MCS. With the '03 model, I have more interior options, but the dealer has no brochures showing the new anthracite interior. I have seen one view on this website, but was wondering if anyone had other pictures of the anthracite option that would show contrast with the dash. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. :smile:

 

I just went to the dealer yesterday, and that was one of the questions I had.

...no pictures, no info.

They DID verify the DVD feature on the new Nav Units, and the fact that they would be taking orders for the HK stereo in November (for Jan/Feb delivery).

Sorry... no further anthracite info.

 

Thanks David G. I just checked out the MINI2 site and found what I think are pictures of the new option in the personal gallery pages. It appears that this option has been available in Europe. I assume the contrast and styling will be the same here. Keep me posted on other shots.

I called my dealer last thursday, the 12th, and he said he had not heard anything about the DVD-based Nav. I ordered mine with CD Nav back in May and it is has an Oct. 25 production date. According to what you heard, does this mean that mine will have the DVD or the CD-based Nav system, thanks. :smile:

It sounds like yours will be a 2003, and it's probably 50/50 regarding the DVD. The dealer specifically said that any vehicle ordered now would likely get the DVD (to be honest, I'm not sure if she said "all" 2003's). The way these things usually work, however, is they start ordering the "new" (DVD) parts, and then start installing them as soon as they run out of the "old" (CDROM) parts. So it probably depends on things like the Nav System parts backlog, as to when the "switchover" takes place.

SO; you have a fairly high probability of getting a "bonus" form MINI!

(late update: one person on MINI2 said their dealer told them the DVD Nav option wouldn't be available until "Jan '03 to July '03". Soooo: stay tuned, and realize a lot of this is just "hearsay" until somebody drives their MINI home, with the DVD Nav and HK stereo installed! Don't lose faith!)

There is none that I know of.

I ordered it anyway. The MINI owners Lounge says my car will be ready for delivery on October 21st (that's right, tomorrow, Monday). I'll take pictures and post after I pick it up - but that might not be till tuesday - the dealer had not actually taken delivery on Saturday yet so they think it might be Tuesday morning before I get it.

So, anyway - this will have to do until I take delivery on Monday or Tuesday.

My 2003 has the anthracite dash. It was the only one on the dealer lot. I think it looks GREAT. I also have the emerald green leather and the two colors work really great together. Jet Black outside with white top and white mirrors. I'll try to post a pic in a few days. I also added R-speed's chrome trim. GREAT looking products and Peter is a great guy to deal with. Yes; the DVD (and CDROM, for that matter) part of the "Nav" system is a SEPARATE player, under the passenger seat, used only for the maps (etc) for the Nav system. Has nothing to do with "movies", or music for that matter.

HOWEVER; there is an entire thread on MINI2 devoted to using the Nav LCD to view movies from an alternate DVD player/source. This setup also allows you to view normal Television channels on the same display.

SOooo: you CAN use the Nav system (at least, the CURRENT one) to view movies... (you just need to ADD a few components to the standard hardware that comes with your "factory" MINI).

Just don't get caught. Its illegal in most states to have an entertainment/tv type screen visible to the driver. And rightly so.
