My car lost a mirror cap.

This is what it looked like before I lost it. I know that I didn't collide with anything. Is it common for these to fall off? Could someone have stolen it?

Anyway, I need to either replace both mirrior caps or obtain one jet black mirror cap for the passenger side on a left hand drive car.

What do you recommend? Would checkered mirror caps look good?

I think that you should keep them black and, what a surprise, I have a set that I can sell. Let me know if you're interested!

No....they dont just COME OFF... The only reason mine came off was I was doing the slalom at 55 mph through construction cones and came just a tad too close to a cone...

My understanding is that the caps are stuck on with a couple pieces of glue tape. If that's true, they could 'just come off'.

Not true, there are retaining clips within. I have a used set of the OEM black caps in boxes in the basement pile of items removed. I went b/w checked and probably will never go back.

Hey I have a black MINI too! My mirror cap came off as well!! Of course I hit a 4' tall traffic barrier but that's besides the point.

Instead of buying a new painted one for $120 or so, I decided to spend $250 and buy JCW CF ones and replace both, lol.

I'd offer my other good one, but I lost the same one you did, lol.

Haha, that's funny.

Well I've worked out a deal with "Darkness." He's selling me his set of Jet Black mirror caps.
