Interior/Exterior Rear Wiper Delete
Rear Wiper Delete
there was a thread about removing the rear wiper and motor (in the spring i think it was), and i bought all the parts, (all one of them hahah) but i could never get my wiper arm off. It seems to be siezed on, it looks as tho it could even be screwed on, but have been told its not. either way, its not comming off, and after just installing my jcw spoiler today (after buying it last november) i just must get rid of that wiper. So long story short, what is the cheapest part to chop off? not being able to look at the parts either in hand or on real oem (wipers dont seem to be listed). I assume the the end of the wiper arm where the nut holds on, i kind of figure the shaft is integral with the motor. I dont really ever intend on putting it back on, just just in case, i dont want to have to spend hundreds on a new motor or something. its an 06 incase they changed things along the way (i know they changed the wiper arm, but dont know by how much)
thanks alot guys

I had trouble getting mine off as well. After removing the nut I just sprayed a ton of WD40 on there and let it sit for a while, and after that I had my dad pull from the arm and I pulled on the motor with a little wiggle and it eventually came off. We had to pull pretty hard though.I thought it was going to break and then it just came off. The key is lots of WD40 I think.
Hope that helps because I don't see any good places to cut it off without loosing the motor arm.

I used a gear puller to remove it--it's splined and on there tough.
or you could just cut it. I like that solution (really, it's the same as the one I chose, only I didn't have to cut. But I'll never reinstall either the motor or the wiper arm.)

thanks guys. I did actually use a puller on it at one point, all that acomplished was flaring the shaft. hahaha, did a pretty good job of that actually.
lex: never thought of that, will give it a try as soon as someone is around to help me
phil: thans man, will cut if i must. its just too ugly to leave on anymore.

I used a black plastic plus and silicone to plug it. The size is close to one inch, but can't remember.

Used penetrating oil on it for day, removed next day very easy.
Used a 1" rubber plug used by Electronics companies that do antenna installs on automobiles like taxi's and cruisers. When an antenna is removed from a trunk of a car, they use these plugs to fill in hole.
I then used some black silicone adheasive on back side of plug because it was not as snug as I wanted. ( had plug in my tool box ) It's in there rock solid. But find a plug that fits a hole just a smidgen larger than 1", maybe 1- 1/4" ?.
