I've been told by a tinter that on the back windows, where there are little black dots as the transition between the window and the edge, that the tint won't stick, so it will show a thin silver-ish line around the edge.

is this true of others, too? How noticable is it? Does anyone's dealership tinting do this?

thanks much.

In researching window tinting on the web I have found that there are ways to solve the little dots problem. Try shopping around for a tinter that knows how to do this.

I have mine done also. My tinter was real good so they are not that noticable, but if you are right up on the car.

But at a differnet angle you can see no dots.

yes, the tint won't stick too well, but like others say, it's not that noticable....it's has been called the "halo effect" by my tint shop (not sure that's a widely used term).

someone once told me that they got around the "halo effect" by having someone paint over the dots with black paint so that they got a clean line for the tint shop to tint over...that sounds expensive. But hey, that's the best idea I've come across.

Just know that there are many makes/models of cars that have the dots which result in the "halo effect", so don't worry about it too much.

Good luck! Your tinted MINI will look awesome no matter what.

try running your finger around the edge of the tint about a week after it's applied. the tint doesn't stick real well on the dots when wet, but seems to stay better after it's dried out a bit.
