tail light idea...

this was a broken tail light that i cracked nearly a year ago, and i bought a replacment, and go figure, i just put it on yesterday...

anyways, i wanted to de chrome the inside trim so i took the lens off.

yes it looks like i hacked it with the dremel, thats because i did. its getting trashed so i didnt care. just wanted to practice on the broken one.

when i was finished, i was looking at it with the lens off, and i think it looks sorta cool without it

so i went and put it on my car for a minute..

what do u guys think?

theres only one problem...

the gap around the edge since the lens isnt on there.

anything i can do about that? if not, im not gonna even bother, ill just buy black covers for them.

painted it black just in general to see what it would look like blacked out

Personally I like it better with the cover on. I tried something similar a while back. I tinted the inside reflector and left the cover clear. It looked interesting at night but it caused crazy light reflections during the day. Just didn't look right to me. I peeled the inside tint and went back to just the cover being tinted.
If you like it, go for it.

if i leave the outer clear lens on, which i still may, ill just cover/tint those black.

if not, im gonna tint the actual red plastic and leave the clear outer lens off.

the newer style (05/06) tails...those have the reverse light in the tails right, as opposed to my 04, where its above the exhaust tips?

also, if i was to get those newer 05/06 tails, is the wiring the same, or would i have to change things around?

The wiring is different in the 05/06 models.
