Residu on Dash

Not Sure exactly where to post this here or in the detail section or what but I had a double sided stickey tape to my upper dashboard (it held on a disc for my GPS)

I took it off and had some leftover stickies on the dash I used nailpolish remover to get some of it off and now theres like a whiteish film on the dash and its now matte and noticable. I hope I didn't permanatly ruine my dash when i used nailpolish remover

What can I use to get it off....rubbing alchol? Any tips help would be appreciated!

Here are som photos...its kinda hard to tell but in person when at the drivers seat its really noticable.

For future, something more like Goo Gone or Simple Green will remove stickies and not damage. For now, try a trim or interior dressing like Black Wow or Nero. I haven't tried either inside the car, but you need something to condition the plastic. Black Wow might be a little too shiny, but maybe rub it in to help with the damage and then put something else over it? I'm sure someone else will have more ideas for you... good luck!

Acetone (nail polish remover) is some pretty nasty stuff. Use it on your nails and nothing else .... PLEASE. You have basically sucked all the oils out of the vinyl and maybe some of the dye. Tire black would be my reccomendation for an easy restoration. http://www.properautocare.com/forblactirge.html

I'd be very cautious about using anything along the lines of amour-all or vinyl conditioners. Such products on top of a dash when left in strong sunlight can vaporize and leave an extremely difficult to remove glazing on the inside of your windshield.

Not all are equal, armor all is at the bottom of the detailing brands.

I would not (and have not) hesitate to use Meguiars and Meguiars professional line products. Applied properly they do just what they say they do, with no "side effects".
