Soundproofing is great!

My 04 is new to me, a week. I bought the dice ipod connect and pulled the back seat out to hide the wire under the trip to the glove box. Had a bunch of fatmat left from doing my tundra. Did the sides of the trunk floor on either side of the battery pit and the entire area under the back seat, tucking it deep under the carpet down towards the passengers feet. Totally quieted the car down! Bumps are softer and it really made a difference. Have to put the door lock wire back in it's track so going to do both door skins next. When I bought my Tundra I put in a crazy stereo with focal speakers and did all the door panels and floor. Super quiet!

Is fatmat as good as dynamat? Weight? I felt a package of dynamat at the store and it was super light. Light enough that I might put some in, doing the entire car will add less weight than my backpack. I can't really notice the weight of that bag in the car, unless it slides off the seat and smashes into the glovebox.

Hi, I got the fatmat from a guy building a cobra kit car. I don't know about the weight but it is shiny smooth foil on one side and has peel off paper on the other, it seem like tar paper, kind of heavy but deadens sound great. Interestingly, I had a 6" wide roll of peel and seal in the garage, it is from a roofing supply place. It is EXACTLY the same, I used it up in the doors.

Looks like the cost and weight will be higher than I want, it seems my backpack was not an accurate measuring stick...

that material can be purchased at home depot. its called roof flashing. i used it to prevent leaks around chimneys , lol. it comes in about a 6inch wide roll, cant remember the footage, but it took 2 rolls to do the trunk in my last car. 1 roll is about 10-15 dollars if i remember correctly. much better alternative than overpriced dynamat and the like since its the same principle design.

Do you know which product in the following search you used?

http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/...atalogId=10053

I did my passenger door with the following product from parts express.

http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=268-030

I still have not gotten around to doing the drivers door. It made a big difference with even one door and the door shuts with a deep thud compared to the drivers door that does not have it yet. Applying it was easy with a hair dryer and blunt wooden tools to shape it around the corners.

Anyways, do you have any idea how the roofers flashing compares?

Thanks,
k
