Interior/Exterior Mini Fini Sport Link
Mini Fini Sport Link
Has anyone installed the updated sport link on their MINI?

How do you like it? Is it an easy DIY kit? Thanks.

I installed it on mine. The directions were pretty straight forward. I did it all in my garage. The ONLY problem I had was when it came to drilling the holes into the bumper. I found the template they sent me was for the S Model only which didn't match the Non S Model bumper. So I just tried aligning the bumper over the bars and took my best shot at drilling the holes. The holes actually ended up being a little low in which I had to remove more on the top for the final fitting but I was glad the gap was on the bottom instead of the top. Here is a picture of the back that I had posted once before.

If you have a Non S model I would just confirm with them that they have the template now for that model.
I've used it a few times now hauling a 4'x8' fold up trailer. I purchased just the 2" receiver and the only thing that I don't like is that when I go over bumps in the road a get a very loud thunk sound (which sounds like something is pulling apart in the car). I still think this is due to the slack of the tow bar in the receiver. I plan on ordering the actual Tow Hitch which I'm hoping will eliminate the thunk sound.

Has anyone else installed the sport link on a newer model R56 "Justa?" I have a 2013 and am really concerned about where the holes have to be cut in the rear bumper.. Will they be entirely on the painted bumper or will the lower valance have to be cut as part of the hole too? I would guess it's even trickier cutting through 2 attached pieces of plastic side by side. Any pictures would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Yes the holes are harder to drill and they do go through the paint. If your concerned you may want to consider the other hitch kit as it is a single receiver and goes behind the rear fog hole.

I've been going back and forth on this and am leaning heavily towards the MdM hitch vs. the Mini Fini. It's totally hidden and you don't need an extra exterior bar to adapt it to the vast majority of hitch mounted racks out there.
If you think about it, not only do you wind up with two ports permanently sticking out of your bumper with the Mini Fini, but you have to use their proprietary accessories OR add an outer bar to adapt to a square hitch receiver. If you add up the weight it's alot heavier than just going with the MdM to begin with.
