HELP! So I ordered one of these (3 piece), got it, looks great, trying to install it now. Everything is going well except that I can't get the old left panel (around steering wheel) off. I've already removed the tach. The hole in the rubber piece that extends back seems to be wrapped around something. Can anyone tell me what the problem is and how to get this piece off??

EDIT: Haha, figured it out. Guess I just needed to walk away for a minute.

Yep, it can be a little tricky getting some of those pieces out. I just recently installed my 5 pc. kit that i got from Morristown MINI. I didn't even remove the tachometer.

Bummer... I don't see the 5 piece on the MorrisTown site. Sometimes I think I have the oddest car. It's an 04, but built in July, so the 04 that most people have is a 3 piece dash, but mine is a 5.

That's strange - I thought that *all* '04 MINIs had the five-piece dash. Wasn't the three-piece dash one of the "facelift" changes for the '05 model?

Maybe I'm getting mixed up... All I can find is a pic of the 3 piece with this part number 51 45 0 305 524. Is that the 5 piece part number? If so I was thrown off by the description saying fits 2003 2004 and the picture of the 3 piece.

The link you provided is to buy the five piece dash. That is what I bought for my 2003.

Yep, that *is* screwy - the part number is for the five-piece dash, but the picture is of a late-2006 MINI (or possibly an 07/08 convertible), so I can see why you were confused.
