Front grill minimum % open

I want to use some new material for the front grilles, but need some advice as to the minimum percentage needs to be open to the airflow. The last thing that I want to do is to starve the engine of air for cooling and/or breathing. My intention is to leave the intake pretty much completely open, but wondered just how restrictive the airflow can be before causing a problem for cooling.

If I can't get the airflow through the front, I might consider ducting it in from the bottom or through the hood.

what exactly are you trying to do?
also don't forget the grille in the bumper takes in a large volume of air as well.

I am trying to replace the grille with a custom made one ... just need some idea of the flow rate required i.e. the open area of the mesh

You've got a good question there. Best way to figure that out would be to first figure the total square inches of the grill opening. Then figure the square inches blocked by the grill slats & the backing plastic. Divide figure 1 by figure 2 and you're the man…
