left and right have different part numbers so the price appears to be for each.

Ph1L sent PM on the question. Do you have Halogens or Xenons? Anyways, my how-to is located here:

which is located in this forum:

you really only need to rough up the surface of the parts before painting, so no need to sand off al the chrome. If I remember correctly, I used some 600 grit sand paper.

I was kind of hoping to find the part numbers for just the two parts that get painted, that way if you screwed somthing up, or just wanted to put it back to stock form it might not cost much, unfortunately realoem does not go into detail as to what those numbers would be, so it seems the whole assy' is the only option. At least for now anyway.

yeah most likely they aren't available. BMW has been moving towards reducing replacement individual parts since the early 1990s. you used to be able to buy all the pieces in a rear differential, for example and change the final drive ratio.

however, that is a thing of the past now.

Those are the types of details that can always be overlooked. Thanks for keeping the NAM squad posted.

Does anybody know where you can get the projector lens assembly and not the whole headlight assembly? I'm talking about the part for us Xenon users with that looks like an eye.

I've done the mod and it looks OK, but I think I'd like to try doing a better job with with more coating on this part and maybe a different color. I've tried Pelican parts with no success for my 2009 R56... no luck with 2007 and 2008 searches either.

Thanks all!

Hello, I looked over some of the previous posts looking for what kind of paint I should use on my joey. I see in the first post you used Krylon Fusion matte black? Is this a good choice? The guys in the 1Gen threads don't seem to be answering my questions. I heard that I could use Plasti-dip, but wouldn't that melt?

Also, in the first post you said you got your body color off of Minspeed, painted your rings and then used Krylon Fusion clear over that? This sounds like a good idea. Am I reading all this right? I don't want to mess anything up.
Thanks.

I was thinking of duplicolor wheel paint since it is rated for high temp.

The high temp paint I used stated that it was good for temps up to 1200*F. I still have a small amount of cracking but I think it is because I was hurrying and didn't put in enough time with the heat gun. It's not really bad enough to pull it all apart again.

All i want to do is change the orange indicator plastic lens and put the same one in clear. I hate that orange crap of an indicator plastic lens. It looks horrible on my Blue MC. I don't care to paint the inside, which i won't, just open both parts up with a heat gun or bake it as some people do (I wonder what temperature and how long?) so the goo softens up to get in there and swap it out. Does anyone know anywhere else they sell the clear lens for indicator light. The local dealer wants like $100 per each light and that sounds too much for a clear plastic lens. Any help would be appreciated.

For the halogens you can usually get them on eBay for about $300 a set brand new. If you want to go used, sometimes broken tabs, you can usually get them for about $80 a piece. I'm not so sure about the Xenons though.

Another option to consider is your local auto salvage yard. Go and find if they have any Minis that have been totaled in anything other than a front end collision and see what kind of deal you can swing on the headlamp assemblies. Definitely cheaper than buying new and you can keep your OEMs in one piece.
