This was exactly what Ive been looking for. The only wing Ive liked so far on the MCS is the GP wing, I dont think I could bring myself to put any of the other wings on the market on. So anyone know anything more about the company or the progress on the wing?

there has got to be enough money in this to make fiber glass replicas that will mount to a standard S. I say fiber glass to make them affordable.

Someone just please answer me this:

If I have the opportunity to purchase an OEM GP rear hatch, would it be a waste of money because there may potentially be a decent replica in the future?

Seriously...Its alot of work and money to get it to work. I know I would spend it on something else. Its just a wing! Oh BTW, I dont see someone trying to dup this since there would be no real way to mount it without modifications...

Then what's different about the shape of the GP that makes the hatch unable to fit an R53? If a straight swap does not work, surely someone knows the work/process it took for that Brian guy to get his to fit.

Better yet, can someone let me know his screen name or e-mail so I may contact him myself to see how he got it to work?

Thanks!

There are some differences between the GP Hatch Door and and standard one.

The GP Hatch does not have 2 holes in the roof section used to mount the standard spoiler.

The GP Hatch has 2 holes in each side leg for the GP Wing mounting bolts.

The GP Hatch does not have a wiper assembly behind the trim, however the trim is the exact same part. There is a 3rd Brake light where the wiper was. The upper 3rd Brake Light opening in the hatch has a plastic insert with vortex generators molded in to it.

I guess the parts I saw and held and watched being made into molds are just hallucinations.

Ohh and none of us have mods on our cars didn't require any cutting, welding, fitting or anything else. Some people want more then mere bolt ons can provide and are willing to to do the work.

...which makes sense that those items would be different. But those items wouldn't affect the fitment of the GP Hatch onto a regular R53. It's just a straight swap, isn't it? Unless there's something different with the shape of the GP that I'm unaware of.

It's like the E46 M3 CSL. You couldn't get parts unless you had a CSL VIN, but those who were able to get a bootlid, for example, were able to just do a straight swap. I feel like this is the same thing. No??

The GP boot will fit directly on any MINI. The only difference is the top half of it, but that is only for the spoiler and should not effect the shape of the boot itself.

I don't know if this was a straight comment or what. But Im no newb. I gave Brenden my honest answer. My mod answer was just a nothing more. I havent really looked at a GP wing cause I dont care to have one. The only reason I really chimed in was to tell Brenden I could get him one if he wanted...period. And when Brian was in the process of doing the GP wing I was told that it wasnt a "perfect" swap. The glass was different and they had to modify it to mount. I remember them saying they had to get glass from the dealership or they had to have it cut....It's been so long...

Totally forgot I had this image that I found a while ago. It is a car from Japan that has a GP style wing. I remember seeing it on one of the sites but cant remember which one. Pretty nice piece though.

I did contemplate that Arqray wing before...but if I ever switch(from my Wyvern) it would have to be the Real GP one or a custom full race wing.
