Sport Stripe Apply Help!!

I'm extending my sport stripes down my bumper using a set of OEM roof stripes. I can't find the thread about applying vinyl... which side goes down - the opaque paper side or the solid paper side? Thanks!

I tried applying today, I can't seem to get it around the front bumper. The piece doesn't contour to the rounded edges, so the front is flat, but I get creases or lumps on the top. Anyone know how I can get rid of them? If I use a heat gun would that shrink the corners? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
