Interior/Exterior What are cocoa mats?
I believe that you mean Coco mats (Cocoa is the bean used to make chocolate). Coco mats are made from the fibre of the Coconut husk. It is extremely durable and can be woven into shapes that are a perfect fit in most automobile interiors. That said, there is a certain '50s appeal to them. Kind of like all that KonTiki fad stuff. You might like a set, then again maybe not. If you do buy a set, expect them to wear forever, and be good at trapping dirt/dust from your shoes.
I'm old And I never liked them. Go to your grandparents house and look at their door mats. You know the ones. About two inches thick, light brown, and look like they are made of woven coconut hule fibers. You can't clean 'em as they age they shead (sp) and make a bigger mess than you would cause on a duck hunting trip in monsun (sp). Don't waist your time. If a friend gives them to you change freind. But i'm an old man what do I know? Why don't we have a spell checker?#$%@#@&*

Opinion noted tsprayfhs...but I disagree...
Cocoa mats are extremely durable and come in many different complimentary colors...comparing them to the typical sisal "welcome" mat is a stretch. They don't shed and they don't need more than a shaking occasionally because they typically don't show the dirt like carpet. Find a car that has them and make your own decision jivanivan...I like mine!

OK.
It appears that tsprayfhs had a bad experience with a welcome mat once. Don't let that dissuade you, though... Cocomats are good stuff. Like others have said, they are made from a sisal material that comes from coconut husks.
What's special about them? Well, in a nutshell (no pun intended), they have the nice looks of a carpet mat, however, they are able to handle foul weather slop as nicely as a rubber mat. These things are thick and heavy. And they are available in a number of colors/patterns to match just about any interior. I've had folks comment on how nice my floor mats look - they assume they are OEM because they fit so well.
I believe they used to be factory options on BMWs and/or Mercedes "back in the day".
Anyway, for more info, check out their website:

I've got the black w/grey dot version, and I wouldn't give 'em up for anything! At first I thought they were pricey, but when I realized you can pay 80-90 bucks for OEM MINI mats, then it didn't seem bad. They have the OEM mats beat hands-down...
All IMHO, of course...

I think that they are not. Here is the only red/black type of Cocomat offered:

I have to say I'm tempted to order them. Right now I have crap $20 floormats from AutoZone because I didn't want to line my MINI dealer's pockets any more than absolutely necessary.
