Plasitc Cap Over Tow Hook On R56

new mini owner/guy not really a DIY'er....

wanted to know....is there anybody out there that has a good way to protect the paint on the car as you pop out that little square plastic piece on the front bumper to expose the tow hook?

or is it not an issue..../not gonna scrap the paint as i pull it out?

can somebody please shed some light...

thanks

adam

Sure, just don't use a metal screwdriver. Or if you do, put a piece of cloth or something around the tip. I'd use something plastic to pry it out.

Luckily I don't have this problem. Mine came with the little locking tab pre-broken from the dealer! It's real easy to remove.

I used a little sticky tak to keep it from popping out when my mini gets bumped by parallel parkers.

Actualy, when you think about it, its not a bad way to prevent people from hurting your car if they happen to bump into it. When gen 1 minis are hit, it usually leaves a dent on the bonnet (ouch). This is less of a problem due to the increased ride height of the R56, but still... I guess the question is, where do I get one of these the cheapest? I have seen them for $50!
