Steering wheel replacment...???

I have a 2003 MCS. The interior looks as new save for the steering wheel that looks like it's been through a war. The center MINI logo is all scratched and faded. The circle surrounding it looks horrible as well. Seems crazy since you don't even drive with your hand in the center of the wheel, but that's the way it looks.

I have the volume buttons and other controls as well and would like to replace my steering wheel.

1. Can I replace it with a R56 or do I have to have an R53 steering?
2. How difficult is the swap?

Any advice would be great! Thanks!

I too have this issue (although it's a standard coupe wheel) and it bugs me since the rest of the car looks good inside.

When I had my Mustang, I was going to change the steering wheel but nobody could replace it with one and have an airbag in it as well...which is extremely bad. Does the same apply here?

Could always go for the JCW steering wheel....just a thought...I have not put my hands on one but have heard they are pretty nice.

pretty pricey upgrade from the 2 spoke to the JCW 3 spoke... looking at minimum $700. plus if he wants to keep his multifunctions he'll need to buy the modules/switches that go with the 3 spoke.
