Interior/Exterior Help changing door handles - stuck on step 1
Help changing door handles - stuck on step 1 (never mind)
I just spent the last 30 minutes trying to get the armrest off and couldn't even get that done.
I have a 06 with the release clip that secures the armrest, but the armrest is so tight against the center bar that I could barely get anything under it. When I finally got past that hurdle, nothing released and all I succeeded in doing was stripping the tape off the screwdriver. Took two hands worth of force just to get the screwdriver under the armrest...I was sure I was going to break something so I stopped.
What's the trick?

Never mind...I finally got it. Took 2 hrs to do the passenger side. That included a run to Autozone to get a Torx Allen wrench set (because the space to get to the front screw was too narrow for my Torx socket and adapter), 20+ minutes on the armrest, and 20 minutes on getting the cable from the new handle into the piece parts. Whew. Now I get to do it again on the driver side...tomorrow or next week, I need a rest!
Sorry dude, just saw this. I did my driver's side today and the going was MUCH easier than before. I've also been adding dynamat and felt to my doors so my hands are cut up like crazy
I was worried about the locking mechanism, but it stays put so no worries. Probably the hardest part about the driver's side was getting the cable ran. What I did was, I got the cable hooked up first, then tucked the rest up out of the way. I'll be packing tomorrow, but will keep an eye on this thread, just in case

Good luck.
