advice for installing new steering wheel cover

I've got a used steering wheel and new leather cover to install over it from http://www.minspeed.net/MSWG.htm.

I'm wondering if the new cover should go over the existing steering wheel as is or should i remove the existing stock leather and install the cover over that.

I'm asking because it seems like installing over the existing material makes the new cover too short to sew up properly.

Yes I searched around and saw some good looking steering wheels but nothing I could find that answers this quesiton.

Your suggestions and input are appreciated!

I'm not familiar with myminispeed.com and it produces a Server Not Found error.

FWIW, I put a Wheelskins steering wheel cover over the leather of an R56 MFSW and it was fine.

corrected url...was doing that from memory

This isn't a wheelskin. The directions don't indicate taking off the existing leather already on the steering wheel.

Did you have to stretch the leather at all?

Just Call Pete from Minspeed. I am sure he will be happy to talk you through the install. He is a great guy, makes me wish I loved in South Florida so I could hang out at his shop.

The wheelskin was a tight fit, but it wasn't difficult. There was a particular method described in the instructions for lacing it up tight. I like the added thickness it gives to the wheel.
