Up and coming

so i just thought id share a few mods ive ordered or am in the process of ordering:

waiting for:
from redlinegoods.com i ordered a shift boot/e-brake boot set red/black perferated leather...cant wait to get those in

from outmotoring.com i ordered the R56 badge for the boot, and the black beltline adhesive tape thing to cover the chrome so when the windows are tinted they will make the car look darker.

from astheticcreations.com i ordered double viper stripes in alternating charcoal/black for the bonnet roof and boot.

i am in the process of speaking to Doug Whalen about a custom shift **** for my baby, and i also have the tinter on hold (to install the stripes also) for tints and when the stripes come in...

i cant wait...modding my baby is worse than a drug addiction...is it EVER gonna stop?!

i also want to get a CAI but have yet to decide which to go with...what do you guys think?

i was thinking about ordering the TURBO badge and replacing the COOPER on the boot with the TURBO so it will read TURBO S...but ive put that off for now..what do you guys think of that?

Which boot on redlinegoods did you get? I don't see any listed for the R56.

I personally don't like the tacky, glued on badges. The Mini emblem is ok but the Cooper S logo I'll pass on. Any logo like that are really hard to clean and wax around, unless you like working with q-tip type swabs.

the redlinegoods boot i got was the red and black perferated leather like this - i emailed them and they said to mention it was for an R56 and that it would be made to the R56 specifications..and it will fit like a glove.. http://www.redlinegoods.com/samplelthrperfred.htm

yeah i know what you mean about hard to clean/wax areas on a car...i was detailing cars all summer and my boss mainly told me to get close to the emblems but not to go over them so that wax would get stuck in them...with my car i persoanlly got as close as possible and a q-tip isnt a bad idea
do you know which R56 and Turbo badges im refering to from outmotoring?

Edit:
R50/52/53/56:
http://www.outmotoring.com/mini-coop...er-badges.html
and turbo:
http://www.outmotoring.com/mini-coop...rbo_badge.html

every time i look at the TURBO badge i dont like how small it is, but i think i can shop around for a bigger/better on - i was thinking that i like the turbo badge from porsches but its more plastic sticker so ill see

Do drug addictions stop on their own? I don't think so. I got it bad.

Ouch! I've been lucky with getting off post surgery drugs, and I've had the strongest made. However, the MINI modding addiction is much harder to kick.

I looked at their site sometime ago, but only saw R53 & earlier. Guess I should have contacted them. My dad had a Citroen DS 21 Palace with pigskin seats. I liked the unusual texture they had and think ostrich leather would make great boots.

I just figured out how to get the ebrake lever off and am working on making replacements out of exotic woods. I may even add sterling silver caps.

please feel free to post pictures also if you have any suggestions..i love looking at pictures of other peoples minis.
You wanna see an over-the-top obsessive mod? How about this:

Dude, don't be too hard on yourself - if you're only three days post-op, you deserve all the Vicodin and Percoset they'll give you!

After a motorcycle accident a few years ago, my doctors had me on Vicodin for three MONTHS. Fortunately, I didn't develop an addiction - my prescription ran out, and I stopped taking them with no problems.

hahah - no no it wasnt my arm..it was my nose (no not plastic surgery) i had a deviated septum fixed because i have issues with chronic sinus infections. i can breathe a lot better but im extremely stuffy now which sucks but i know you gotta get worse to get better, right?

it was nice to get into my mini today and drive it after not driving it since wednesday night..i missed my baby...

i still need to name her. she takes care of me really well, and i take care of her extremely well...cleaning her and adding nice accessories to her =D

Thanks. I've had alergies since I was a kid. Always had a keenex box floating around the car. So, it was nice to find a place for it.

good job and congrats...did you or are you going to throw a sub into there at all? i think it'd be a good idea for that extra bass.
Not sure. It would help. First I want to reduce road noise at highway speeds. Then I'll consider future audio mods.

yeah the doctor told me i didnt need vicodin but he gave me the perscription pre-op just incase...im glad he did...

my mom had bruised her ribs over the summer because of bronchitous (spelling?) and was perscriped perkoset by her doctor..she offered me the perkoset she had left over because i told her about the pain i was in and i gladly accepted it seeing as how 2 vicodin = 1 perkoset roughly...

at this point i think im taking it more out of desire than pain but i gotta stop tomorrow cause of school...that should be fun...tylenol will now become my best friend when i get pain..

and sorry to hear about the motorcycle accident but glad to see your up and running again! what kind of motorcycle did you have? chopper? crotch rocket?

you know i hear everyone complaining about road noise in the car at highway speeds but you guys must be going pretty damn fast compared to what im doing (around 70-95 or so depending on where i am), because im not bothered by highway road noise...not after my 325xi in which i heard everything at 60mph..it was a great car but loud in the cockpit...i loved it but i think the mini fits me better =P

The bike was a Ducati Monster 900. It's more of a "naked sportbike", rather than a flat-out crotch rocket.

I'm almost fully-recovered, although it looks like I'll probably never be 100%. I'm extremely lucky, though, considering the extent of the injuries.

wow well im glad to hear your going to be better, and sorry you wont be up to 100% but im sure you and your family are happy that your still around. sorry about the serious accident! but we love you here at NAM! lol

i was detailing cars this past summer and i saw a couple really rare ducatis - i forget what models they were pretty nuts looking and from what im told they were like super-bikes...but they were basically garage-candy at this point. the rider had gotten into an accident where he was almost paralyzed in his entire body. makes sense.

Thanks - that's kind of you to say. I'm still riding after almost losing my leg, so I'm either brave or stupid.

I was talking to my wife about it last year (God bless her - she was the one taking care of me for almost a year after the accident), and I told her "You know, I've never really though of myself as an 'adrenaline junkie', but I think I might be one."

She sort of looked at me with this "duh" look on her face, and told me "You're still riding after an accident that could have killed you, you've gone bungee jumping and skydiving, you've been shot off the front end of an aircraft carrier 150+ times, and now you've taken up autocrossing - what do YOU think?!?!"

Yeah - guess she's right. I always wondered why I got cranky if I had to go a week without riding or flying. Good thing she loves me!

hahahah...whats wrong with being an adrenaline junkie...

and no problem. i think weve all had our share of close calls..i know i have. but im just glad to be able to wake up and see my family and the ones that care about me. thats whats important to all of us, right?

you must be an adrenaline junkie in order to be driving a mini! (and still riding the bike, and skydriving and bungee jumping and all). id love to go sky diving. it looks like so much fun.

i think it takes a real man to get back up on that horse, or bike. my sister almost broke her neck doing her equestrian b.s. but she always manages to get back up on that horse - concusion after concusion shes back up and doing her thing again. if its what you love, why would you stop?

lucky you finding a woman who loves you - im still on the prowl..im good with my mini for now though =D but im still young, ive got time!

You're a jet fighter pilot and you had doubts about whether you were an adrenaline junky?

Glad you survived the motorcycle accident, but sorry to hear that it left some permanent damage.

The pigskin was in my dad's Citroen. I'm going for black leather with an ostrich imprint. Redline says they can do it if I provide the leather.

- Actually, I'm a Flight Officer in the E-2C "Hawkeye", trained for airborne command-and-control, and early-warning type stuff. Not quite the same as the pointy-nosed jet jocks. Of course, we still do 0-160MPH in about two seconds off the carrier, so the thrill is still there.

Our running joke about the E-2C is "We may be ugly, but we're slow!"

As for the permanent damage, it's not that bad. Some pretty heinous scars on my leg and right hand, a very slight limp, one knee that always hurts to some degree or another, and a little bit of nerve damage/muscle atrophy in my leg. It could have been *much* worse.
