Interior/Exterior Product idea if not already out there
When adding the clear tail lamps to a Mini, to be legal you are suppose to add red reflectors to the back of the vehicles. Understandable but not exactly very cosmeticly appealing in most cases. What I think would be a great prodcut would be a license plate frame that is color matched to the car and has built into it the red reflectors either along the bottom or the sides. I've looked but cannot find such an item.
I my case I need one in Indi Blue. If anyone knows of such a product already out there or one with reflectors that I could paint please let me know.
Thanks,
CST

The red reflectors you're referring to go into the light assembly, not on the car. These make the lights shine red when used. This way you don't blind someone behind you with white light.
If you still want the plate bracket reflective, they make paint or tape that you could use.

No kidding....the really do make make paint and tape.
As for the red reflectors, according to DOT requirements red reflectors must be installed on the rear of the vehicle to be legal. Go to MiniUSA web site and look at the picture of the clear tail lamp option and you will see the red reflectors installed on the bumper.

I have the white tail lights and at least 6 others in my state do as well but no one except me has mounted red rear reflectors. Not sure why- even the dealer has not done this for the cars they did install the white lights on.
Personally I think the BMW reflectors are not the best choice. Some ideas have been posted on Mini2.com
and I choose a variant of the red MCS seen below.

Thanks for the suggestion. Hadn't thought about mounting reflectors there...good idea. A friend of mine took his import in which had clear lamps installed and the state inspection center wouldn't pass his car until some red reflectors were installed.
The reflectors on the Red MCS look like they came off a bicycle. A little cheesy in appearance. Good idea and location. but poor execution. The local dealer in Indianapolis has a demo MCS with the Works package installed. They have white tail-lights on it as well, and I think the reflectors were more integrated into the bumper. I'll try and snap a picture, as I can't remember exactly what it looked like.
